Little boys, goats, rabbits, men on bikes, and long waits at the post office.

I will start with sharing a bit about our wonderful post office here in Santa Ana. First off, its not so lovely. Secondly, the women who work there have no conception whatsoever about eficency, speed, and customer wait times. Thirdly, too many of the people that go there to mail things do not realize that it really helps if they have whatever they want to mail, already packaged and addressed when then get to the post office. I spend 40 minutes waiting in line at the post office today. At least the last 15 minutes I was at the head of the line, and was waiting on one lady who had brought some stuff to mail, and they had to package it, weight the package, address it, and I don’t know what else. The lady who was taking care of her has one gear. Slow. Actually, its slower than slow. Its not stop, but its close. So I waited in line for a long time holding my seven manila envelopes containing Lamp and Light Bible courses that I needed to mail, and one small envelope to mail to the US. I was waiting there when I noticed two Mormon guys in the back. After they were in the line about 10 minutes they came up to the counter and acted a bit antsy. It seemed like they were in a hurry. The one looked very American, and I heard him say something in English, so I offered to mail his letters for him. He took me up on my offer, and they took off out of there. It only cost $1.50 to mail his letters, and he gave me $2, so I guess I have $0.50 to spend on a coke. :)

I did other waiting this afternoon. Dad and I were in Santa Ana all afternoon. We went to an vehicle electrical place, to check out and fix the glow plugs on the van. We waited a bit at the electrical office in order to pick up a solicitude for getting the electricity hooked up to the L&L house in Santa Ana. We then waited about an hour at the doctors office. I have been better and all healed up for several weeks now, but we hadn’t ever made it back to see her in order to get our bill. She only charged $300 plus tax for doing the surgery and probably 10 visits over several weeks time.

I have been taking some pictures the last while, but I didn’t feel like I took anything really spectacular. A few weeks ago I had my camera along when I went out to Zacamil. There was still some morning fog out across a field, so I stopped and took some pictures. I like the spiny, prickly, forky look of the tree branches against the fog on the following picture.

This following biker went past on the other side of the road while I was stopped there.

A little over two weeks ago we were on the way to San Salvador for a youth activity, and stopped at the childrens home to pick up the ones there. This little guy was happy to smile for me. I wish I could remember what his name is. There are enough children at the Home right now that I have a hard time to keep track of them all.

The week before last we had supper at Neto Glick’s place. They raise goats and rabbits. Right when we got there the light was pretty good, so I took pictures of the goats and rabbits.

I have some more pictures, but I think will save them for another post.

  1. that last one is good. would comment more on why but i gotta go :P

  2. The backlighting on the rabbit is superb! I really like it. The thing has a little dirty spot in it’s ear. It’s eyes are all out of whack, but that adds to the picture. It looks so innocent, fluffy, soft, and stupid. The others are good too, but especially the one of the smiling boy. Great work!
