A family picture

Hey! I’m currently sitting here in the living room relaxing. I actually took some pictures recently, so I’m planning on posting some. For several days mom has been wanting to take a family picture, but it never really worked out. So this afternoon we donned our fancy garb, and took pictures. We tried getting some with the dogs, but the dogs were quite uncooperative. They just didn’t want to behave the way we wanted them to behave.

These pictures aren’t complete though. We need Andrea on them, but since she isn’t anywhere close by, we just went ahead and took them without her.

Since I had all my camera/lighting gear out, I decided to mess around and try to get some shots of myself. I had made a homemade shoot-through umbrella, and I needed to try it out.

I used a full CTB (color temperature blue) gel on my background flash, and also put a stofen-cup on it. The background was a plain white table that I stood on end. The flash was about a foot in front of it. I set my cameras white balance on tungsten, and then a CTO (color temperature orange) on my umbrella flash. A fun little experiment.

The Bible school in Texistepeque is over with now. I actually enjoyed it, but I’m glad its over. I had six very well behaved students. They were so quiet I had to check occasionally to make sure they weren’t sleeping. An added side benefit of going out to Texis all the time was that it created good opportunities to hang out and have good times with the other MK’s*. The one Friday night after Bible school I stayed at Loncho’s for supper and it ended up being 10:45pm till I got left. Last Wed. we had a real MK get together. Sheri was out there teaching too, and so I brought Arlynn along, and then Kevin came out too. We had a real good time. Mom and Dad somehow managed to invite themselves too =) and I was really surprised that they weren’t pushing to get left early. We ended up leaving at 11. Last Friday I was at Zacamil packaging L&L stuff up most of the morning, and then taught the last day of Bible school. We ended up having a shorter day, which was good, since I didn’t even have enough stuff to fill the time up. We played a bunch of games that evening again then. For some reason we have this problem of not staying focused and suddenly we find ourselves talking instead of playing… Yesterday then we had Unit meeting here. I decided hosting unit meeting is too much work, and that we have too small of a house to have that many people around. The food was good though at least. I thought I had to go to a meeting yet that evening, but I ended up not having to which was very nice. I didn’t feel like leaving.

Have a good ‘un,

Aaron

  1. Looks like you had fun and got some good results! You can see what I got with my little point and shoot of our family. The main problems were that everyone wanted a picture in 1 min or less, and that not everyone wanted to smile at the same time. It was the biggest stress point of our whole family vacation. I like you blue background shot, except you need a big fuzzy beard yet.

  2. oh wow! i’m not a big fan of all the shadows flash creates, but thats ok, i like the pose on the first pic. y’all look relaxed and “at home.” the dogs certainly add to it. i like how arlynn and willard and really cracking up in the second picture, lol. :)
but andrea is def. making your pictures look incomplete! such is life, i guess.
i like the pic of you too! guh-rate job, did you actually get that by yourself? did you use a remote?
